Ideas for a more flexible working life
I’ve been thinking about how to reshape my working day so there is less work and more time for other pursuits. Some days I work from 8.00 am – 6.00 pm. Occasionally this is extended into the evening.
I’m fortunate in that I have the freedom to choose how to structure my working day. So I’ve thought about how many different ways could I vary this. Here is my list so far:
- start later and finish at the same time
- start at the same time and finish earlier
- start and finish earlier
- work less days per week
- stop taking work home in the evening
- stop working weekends
- work mornings only
- work afternoons only
- work less days per week
- work a short fortnight
- work in some seasons only
- work alternative months
- take a year off
- work alternative quarters
- schedule non-work time throughout the year and fit work around it
