Interview Tips and Techniques
- Are you an internal applicant performing poorly at job interviews?
- Are you trying to win a public service job but can't crack the interview code?
This program cracks the interview code by:
- explaining what the panel is actually doing (or should be doing)
- outlining the essential preparation you need to do before the interview
- offering strategies for managing nervousness that sabotages your performance
- demonstrating what interview questions mean and how to answer them so you sound coherent, concise and confident.
DVD-based program shows how to behave at interviews
Using DVD-based material of applicants being interviewed, you'll see how different ways of talking at interview make all the difference to how you sound and what impression you create.
This video material shows two applicants, one a mature age man named Roger Koudbee, the other, a less experienced but more articulate Generation Y women named Gillian Ready, being interviewed - same questions, different responses. Roger and Gillian also reveal how they feel before the interview, showing how a person's 'mental panty' (the beliefs they hold and thinking processes) affect their performance.
When you see and hear how applicants apply the strategies covered in this program, you'll know what you have to do to perform at your best.
Program structure
This half or one day program is structured around five modules:
Module 1: Understanding the application cycle and the role of the interview
Module 2: Preparing for the interview: analysing strengths and capabilities, managing nervousness
Module 3: At the interview: building rapport, handling a range of question types, self-promotion techniques
Module 4: What to do after the interview.
Module 5: Outcome planning: developing an action plan to apply learnings
An excellent method for obtaining results for your staff is to add individual coaching as a follow up to a group workshop. These follow-up sessions are either 30 or 60 minutes long.
